Work That Stands Up
Documentaries, brand stories, corporate shorts. Each project built with structure, pacing, and a spine.
Good storytelling is not loud. It is clear. It knows what it wants to say and how to say it without wasting your time.
Below is a selection of work I have directed, produced, or shaped from concept to final cut. Some are polished. Some are raw. All of them earned their place.

Oh hey,
you found me
I started as a documentary filmmaker. Then I became an AI strategist. Then an executive coach. Now I do all three, because the skills overlap more than people think.
Good stories need structure. Good systems need clarity. Good leadership needs both.
I work with finance teams, tech companies, and creative founders who want work that is sharp, human, and built to last. I do not do hype. I do not do chaos. I build things that hold up under real deadlines.
Timelines and I have a complicated relationship. I always win.

THE WORK
Why Should You Work with Me?
How I Approach Film Direction?
Every project needs a strong spine before the creative layers go on. Without that, even beautiful work falls apart.
I like working with teams who respect timelines and understand that good ideas need clear frameworks to survive real production pressures.
I prefer workflows that don't collapse when someone sneezes.

Fiction Films
A story without a spine is just scenes. I build the dramatic question first. Everything else — camera, performance, pacing — follows that. It sounds obvious. Most people skip it anyway.
Documentary Films
Real people are harder to direct than actors. They forget the camera, then remember it, then forget it again. I have spent 16 years learning how to use that. The best moments are never planned. They are waited for.
Brand Films
I have made brand films for Spotify, Vivo, and OPPO. The ones that worked had something to say. The ones that did not, did not. A brand film is still a film. It still needs a reason to exist.
Stories
I work backward from the final cut before anything is shot. Editors either love this or find it slightly alarming. Either way, the film holds together. Which is the point.
AI Films
I direct AI-generated films the same way I direct everything else. With intent. With structure. With a clear idea of what the frame needs to carry. The tool is new. The thinking is not.
16 Years. Six Countries. One Standard
Fiction, documentary, brand, AI. The format changes every time. The question at the start never does: what does this film need to make someone feel? Everything else is just logistics.

Ask Your Questions
What kind of films does Vani direct?
Primarily documentaries, brand films, and corporate narratives. The common thread is story structure every project, regardless of format, is built around a clear spine and a reason to keep watching.
How do I commission a film project?
Start by describing your brief. Send a note to email with the project scope, timeline, and what you are trying to say. If it is a fit, we will schedule a call.
Does Vani work internationally?
Yes. Production experience spans India, the UK, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Kenya, and the UAE. Remote pre-production is standard. On-location direction is project-dependent.
What is the typical production timeline for a short documentary?
Depends on the scope. A focused 10-15 minute documentary typically runs 3-5 months from brief to final cut. Larger projects or multi-territory shoots take longer. Rushed timelines produce rushed films.
